Nanoparticles and –wires

It is possible to fabricate organized single-particle thick layers of nanoparticles with the LB and LS techniques. In the case of rods, not only packing density but also the orientation is dependent on the surface pressure. The formed structure can be transferred with the LB and LS methods, creating new possibilities for device fabrication from them.

Dip coating can be used to prepare thin layers and multilayers of nanoparticles with precise control on deposition parameters. Dipping speed, temperature and drying times have a big effect on sol-gel synthesis and other systems where the layer formation is not based on equilibrium interactions. With multi-vessel dipping it is possible to fabricate complex self assembled systems with large sequences automatically.
