The KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough Extra Small enables the use of a reduced subphase (18 ml) which is of particular interest when working with valuable and costly samples. Whether you are willing to use an expensive liquid as a subphase or to study the interactions of a very valuable compound with your monolayer, the KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough XS will help you minimize the quantity of sample used.
However, in this case reduced subphase does not mean reduced performances:
- Small subphase volume: The KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough XS requires only 18 ml of subphase for optimal use.
- Outstanding surface pressure sensitivity: To limit the subphase volume, KSV NIMA has chosen to limit the depth of the XS trough rather than the width. This means the KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough Extra Small allows the use of the KSV NIMA supersensitive balance equipped with a quality wilhelmy plate, there is no need to use a rod or any other less sensitive probe.
- Compression ratio up to 15:1: Thanks to its reduced depth (slightly over 1mm), the KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough XS still offers a great surface area of 150 cm2 providing good control over the packing density of your monolayer (compression ratio up to 15:1) even though the subphase volume is reduced.
- Modularity: The KSV NIMA Langmuir Trough XS is a modular instrument enabling you to just replace the trough top when you want to change the dimensions of your trough or when needing to conduct Langmuir-Blodgett deposition, Langmuir-Schaefer deposition or Microscopic observation of your Langmuir film.
